As every year, the first week of August celebrates breastfeeding around the world.

Today, only 40% of newborns under the age of six months are reported to be breastfed worldwide.

To breastfeed or not to breastfeed is the question you are asking yourself. And it is not an easy choice. Therefore, we will try to give you some basic information to help you think about it.

Let's start with a short overview of breastfeeding and as there are 7 days in a week, we will cover 7 key points. Original, isn't it ? 

N°1: World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding for at least the first 6 months of life

Beneficial for newborns :

• - Covers all needs (vitamins, mineral salts, trace elements, sugars, fats, proteins) ;
• - Protects against infections or diseases (gastroenteritis, ear infections, allergies...) ;
• - Promotes good digestion;
• - Faster psychomotor development.

Beneficial for mothers :

• - Accelerates contractions of the uterus, which returns to its place more quickly after childbirth;
• - Decreases the risk of ovarian and breast cancer as well as the risk of osteoporosis;
• - Helps you get back in shape;
• - Prolongs the emotional bond.

N°2 : White gold: giving your breast milk

Breast milk is very useful for preterm babies, to prevent some complications: infections, ulcerative enterocolitis, retinopathy.

« Any woman who breastfeeds and wants to give her milk can do so. A small bottle of 100 ml of milk per day for 15 days is enough. »

In order to be able to give milk, you simply have to fulfil 4 conditions: be in good health, non-smoker, have not had a blood transfusion and have a negative serology.

The lactarium provides all the necessary explanations and equipment: breast pump, bottles...

Excess milk is frozen and given to the lactarium teams.

« The milk collected is pasteurized and checked for bacteria, viruses and fraud. »

The milk is then distributed to the neonatalogy services on medical prescription.

N°3 : Some disadvantages

• - Breastfed babies eat more often because breast milk is digested more quickly;
• - For the same reasons, despite the soothing effect of prolactin, the breastfed baby often needs a meal during the night. As a result, the baby usually sleeps a little later at night;
• - Certain medications/treatments should be avoided during breastfeeding;
• - A baby may become fussy, have difficulty sleeping or develop gas: some foods may need to be limited: spices, citrus fruits, cabbage, coffee, canned tuna/fish, alcohol.

N°4: Milk is evolving!

Nature is well-made and the body adapts perfectly to baby's needs.

At the end of the feed, milk is fatty and acts as an anti-reflux stopper, which is why it is advisable to completely empty one breast before moving on to the other. Most of the time, 1 feed = 1 breast and we switch.

In addition to evolving during the feed, the milk evolves over the weeks. For the first few days, the milk is slightly laxative and helps Baby get rid of impurities in his tummy. Then it continues to evolve at 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months to adapt to the needs of a growing baby.

N°5 : The "place" of the Dad

Most of the time, the choice of whether or not to breastfeed involves the question of the father's role during this experience. Will he be able to find his place? Won't he feel too excluded during the feeding?

The father has a real role during breastfeeding, different from that of the mother but just as important! Many women said they needed more support from the father during this time.

• - "Breastfeeding makes you tired. »

No, a breastfeeding woman goes back to sleep more quickly in deep sleep after breastfeeding, thanks to the action of two hormones: prolactin and oxytocin.

• - "Breastfeeding hurts. »

On the first few days, the breasts can be very sensitive or even painful. But breastfeeding should not hurt. If this is the case after several days, you should not stay with your pain and consult a health professional.

Protect your skin

Sun exposure increases the risk of developing a pregnancy mask. What is it? It takes the form of hyperpigmented stains that appear on the face, more particularly on the forehead, chin, cheeks, cheekbones, and around the mouth.

You are the muse of the new lingerie and swimwear collections. How does it feel ?

It feel very special because my little baby boy was inside my belly, we dit the job together! He was and still is so good to me. It was a great expérience and memory for me. I’m very happy with te results en I think the brochure looks very good. I’ll hope My Son is proud.

What where your favorite piece(s) and why ?

The baby blue grey Cosmos collection a beautifull swimsuit. I feel ready comfortable and sexy in it. And I liked the black and white sporty collection, Sydney, with a very special back and zipper on the decolleté.  But all swimsuits were very comfortable and soft. 

What is your best memory during Cache Cœur’s shoot ?

Pizza for breakfast... haha joking !

I love to travel and I’ve never been in Croatia before this shoot, so i can take it of my travel list. Croatia was a new place for me. The island Brac was very beautifull and we were so lucky with the beautifull weather, were going by a very big boat. And the team was very kindly and professional, we had a lot of fun!

How did you organize your baby’s arrival ?

He have two amazing grannys, they take both care two days of babysitting and my husband one day. Im so happy he has not to go on this age to a daycare. A very luxurios position to have the best for our baby (thats my opinion). 

We needed a new car, and buying a lot of babystuff! We knew before gaving birth its gonna be a boy! So buying clothes and making a room was very easy for us. 

When he was born a lot of family, friends an colleagues where visiting by individu, but maybe if (if its possible) when there comes a second child i will organize a big birth celebration.

How do you manage to juggle between your life as a woman, a mom-to-be and a business woman ?

I love to work again after 3 months free time with my baby Barron. After 3 months I was ready to work on set for a photoshoot. I was very happy to fit the clothes again. 

I have an office job and do modeling. Love to have variety. It's very nice to be sure to have a different world than just being mom. I will always want to continue working as a mother, housewife does not suit me. I have plans to starting a mama lifestyle blog as a hobby : to share tips and tricks about the daily life of a mother, you can read it on my blog and me and my little Family are representing By Modelmamas the same agency where I getting this job

Im very proud of my own little family. We had a few options for cool jobs but hopefully we can do a nice job together in the future, because my babyboy is very photogenic, but ofcourse every mom will says it about their own child. He is also very alert to the camera. I think it's because we are taking picture from birth. His eyes following the camera constantly and when he sees a camera hes lifting his eyebrowns and startend to smile! I’ts a very happy baby. 

Which advices would you give to other pregnant women ?

To be a mother is the best feeling in the world. Our life changed completely. We can't imaginaire without. My world has changed but also myself, im stronger and confident, everything changed. 

Little things are suddenly very important and big things no longer important. Enjoy little things in life. 

Love and enjoy your pregnant belly because before you know you will miss the feeling and little kicks. His ‘little’ kicks better can say ‘big kicks’ were amazing to me, the connection is so strong. He was a very busy baby inside I think he was playing soccer ‘haha’.  Enjoy your pregnancy because it is a miracle from mother nature, be blessed if you can be pregnant and can have children, realize time flies and always following your 'mother' intuition.

70 years ago, the Bikini made its first appearance on the French beaches. It made its debut in the fashion industry on July 5, 1946, thanks to Louis Réard, its creator, a French automobile engineer.

The themes

Often, the baby shower is prepared with a theme, which will be used as a reference for decoration, refreshments and activities organized during the evening.

Here are some ideas for the themes party:

Activities to do during the evening

You are pregnant and you want to organize a baby shower?

 1. Give each participant a necklace. If they get caught telling the word "baby", their necklace will be removed by the one who heard it. At the end of the evening, the winner (the one wearing the most necklaces) will be rewarded.

2. At the beginning of the evening, each participant picks a rubber strap that says "diaper" or "feeding bottle" and so on, for instance. During the baby shower, call your friends by their new name. The one who forgets has to give the bracelet to the one who has noticed the mistake. The person with the most bracelets at the end of the evening will be rewarded.

3. Each of the guests have to bring a picture of him/herself when they were baby. Put all the pictures together and try to find which friend is matching which picture .

4. A classic! The guests have to guess the waist size of the future mom. Each guest must cut a piece of woolen thread corresponding to what they think is the size of the mom-to-be waist. Try the woolen thread around the pregnant woman's belly. The person closest to reality wins a small gift.

5. Prepare slips of some words related to pregnancy. Someone has to draw (or mime) the word and the other guest must guess what it is !

6. Blindfold two participants to the game. Put the some objects related to a baby (feeding bottle, diapers, toys...) in two boxes. Give the name of an object. The first one finding the object win 1 point. repeat until the boxes are empty.
